Pablo Neruda, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair (London: Jonathan Cape, 2004), 65pp. Translated by W. S. Merwin.
An excellent short introduction to the poetry of Pablo Neruda. The poems here all have a sense of majesty mixed with despair, and are accessible enough for even a poetry novice like myself. Of particular note are 'So That You Will Hear Me', 'Drunk with Pines', 'Almost Out of the Sky', 'Every Day You Play' and, my favourite, 'Tonight I Can Write'.
